The Matter of Intimacy
Tatiana Brodatch was born in Moscow and, after earning a degree in architecture, worked for several years between Moscow and Milan before embarking on an independent artistic journey in 2013. She began experimenting with plasticine, a material that would become the hallmark of her work. Her small sculptures—intimate and narrative—often appear in photographs and animations, giving life to an original, ironic, and poetic expressive language.
In 2015, she enrolled in the sculpture program at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, deepening her exploration of material and form. Since 2014, she has lived and worked in Milan, where her studio is based. Brodatch has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, establishing a strong presence in the contemporary art scene.
In 2018, she presented the installation "LOVE IS A VERB" in Milan, which was later exhibited in Paris in 2019. The work gave its name to a collaborative project with the Italian brand Seletti, which, on the occasion of Miart, launched a collection of multiples inspired by her creative universe.
Although plasticine remains her iconic material, Brodatch continually explores new expressive languages, working with bronze, marble, clay, resin, as well as drawing and painting. She collaborates with the fashion world in the creation of accessories and works as an illustrator for magazines, authors, and journalists—always operating at the intersection of art, design, and storytelling.
In 2024, on the occasion of the Milan Design Week, she presents in collaboration with Oltrarno Design the sculptural carpet “Piede”, a one-of-a-kind piece in hand-knotted silk, produced in a limited edition. The work is unveiled as an art installation, merging sculptural gesture with fine craftsmanship, and is exhibited in prestigious venues in Milan, Florence, New York, and Dubai.
